About the Artist

Aron Laikin brings 35-plus years of award-winning creative solutions to some of the world’s best known companies including Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Marvel Comics, MAD Magazine, Cracked Magazine and many other publications as well as his own books. Also, Goldman Sachs and other giant financial institutions regularly call upon Laikin to create commemorative illustrations to celebrate their completed deals.

Laikin’s passion has always been both art & music. He put himself through art school as a professional drummer, and he has successfully combined the two talents to create a wide variety of satirical concert posters for some of the top Rock, Blues and Jazz artists worldwide.

Now, after more than 60 posters under their belt, StarToonz has decided to take their series to the next level by making 3D sculpture versions of the posters that are handpainted and come with an LED illuminated glass case. These are small editions of only 100 and are signed by each artist.

3D Sculpture Process

From our original poster we make a 3D mockup and then the sculptors go to work perfecting a 360 degree view of the caricature. Each sculpture is handpainted and comes in a plexiglass base that illuminates an engraved marquee on the glass as shown below.

PRESS RELEASE

The Fine art of Caricature Meets Music

08/16/2019, NEW YORK

World-renowned artist, Aron Laikin, from MAD Magazine, Warner Brothers, Walt Disney and Marvel Comics, etc. teams up with Music Marketing Specialist Gil Amaralio. This great collaboration is producing a collection of fun Concert Posters for music artists from the worlds of Rock, Blues and Jazz (and everything between.)

The series started with a caricature-style poster Laikin made for Macy Gray to commemorate her performance at The Iridium nightclub in NYC. This poster was made into a limited edition of 25 prints and was signed and sold at the venue. They gave a new and fresh form of merchandise for an artist to offer her fans, besides the normal CDs and TShirts. The series sold out very quickly and reinforced the demand for this type of collectible item. Since then, Laikin & Amarilio created a formal art collection called StarToonz and did posters for the likes of Jeff Beck, Carl Palmer, Jon Anderson, Chic Corea, Stanley Clark, Billy Gibbons, Al Jardine and many others.

“I have been trained as a fine art painter and studied the Old Masters techniques of the Renaissance and have successfully combined that training with my cartooning background doing very ‘painterly’ type caricatures for MAD, CRACKED, Sick, Wacko, Crazy and many other satire publications,” said Laikin. “Now my art has finally come together with my passion for music (professional drummer) to create these concert posters of some of music’s greats!,” he added.

The collection’s popularity is growing fast and musicians are now commissioning Laikin to create custom posters that they then sell at their shows or through their web sites. As an example, Alan White, from Yes & John Lennon fame, has asked for a poster he can autograph at the various BeatleFest he appears at so he can autograph something other than an old photo. “You really made me look much better than I really do—Love it!”, said White, about his poster. He now travels on tour with Yes and has the posters on hand at all times!

Now, with more than 60 posters under their belt, StarToonz has decided to take their series to the next level by making 3D sculpture versions of the posters which are handpainted and come with an LED illuminated glass case. These are small editions of only 100 and are signed by each artist.

Both Laikin and Amarilio have combined their art and marketing backgrounds to bring this new form of collectible into the spotlight! “As interest grows, we intend on coming up with more and more new and exciting collectible merchandise for artists to sell.” comments Amarilio.
